Friends, you must know what a mouse is and how to operate it. The world is developing at a very fast pace. Every country today does not want to lag behind anyone in technology. That is why computers have started being used in everything. You must know very well what a computer is.
Those who know what a computer is will know about it and its use. Two types of devices are used to work in a computer, which we also know as input and output devices.
After all, what kind of device is a mouse? Input or output device. So let me tell you that through it we instruct the computer to work, that is why it is called an input device. We can do many types of work with it, but do you know what this input device is called in Hindi and how it works?
Friends, this is such an important part of the computer for us, so we must get all the information about it. So that whenever we have to buy it, we can choose the best quality according to our work and buy it.
So let us know in detail what a mouse is and what its types are.
What Is Mouse
A mouse is an input device that controls the pointer or cursor on the computer screen. Through this pointer, we use files, folders, and all other options inside the computer to open, close, move them from one place to another, and get information about them.
Because it does all these things, it is also called a pointing device. Any computer user uses this to instruct the computer as to what work to do. In this way, it works like an interface between the user and the computer. We can go to every part of the computer with its help.
Today, if we talk about the role of this device, I would like to say that it is a very important part of it. If you ever imagined that you did not have this device and had to work only with a keyboard, how would you feel?
In such a situation, my experience was as if my hands were tied. Today wireless mice and keyboards are in trend in the market. Many people are taking advantage of it by using it.
A computer is such a device that is not just one part; it has many parts. Just as a human being has a brain, heart, hands, legs, eyes, ears, mouth, etc., each has a different function,, and each function is very important, in the same way a computer has different functions just like human organs. There are different parts to it.
So if we say that humans use their hands to hold, lift, and move things, and use their feet to walk from one place to another,. Now tell me how to do this kind of work on a computer.
Yes, you understood it right. The mouse is used only for tasks like holding, lifting, and moving something inside the computer. It works exactly like hands and legs for us inside the computer.
Definition of Mouse in English
A mouse is a pointing device that works based on the X-Y direction by detecting motion relative to the surface. Due to the motion of the pointer, it allows us to control and navigate the graphical user interface of the computer.
Definition of Mouse in Hindi
A mouse is a pointing device that works in the XY direction by detecting movement relative to a surface. Due to the movement of the pointer, it allows the user to control and navigate the computer’s interface.
Friends, this is also a strange question:: why is this input device named the mouse? We all know what we call a mouse in common language. Yes, its Hindi meaning means rat. If you look at the body structure of a rat, you will understand that it has the same elliptical shape as a rat and a wire-like tail.
Due to this, the use of the keyboard has decreased, and it is continuously improving every day, which has played an important role in increasing the working capacity of the computer.
What Is Mouse Called
As we have already talked about, the structure of this input device is exactly like that of Chuke. The two eyes represent two buttons, and its tail represents its wire, That is why it would not be wrong to call it a rat.
When And Who Created the Mouse?
It was invented in 1963 AD by Douglas Carl Engelbart (1925–2013), who was an American engineer and inventor. When he created this, he used to work at Xerox Parc Corporation.
In the initial phase, there was doubt in the minds of users about its use, but after 1984, it became so popular that today you can see how much it is used in computers.
Mouse Pointer Interface
When a user does some work on a computer, how does he recognize its motion? The answer is that it is a pointing device, which is why a pointer is visible to us on the computer screen. It can be in different shapes. It is a symbol or graphical image.
We also know all these shapes by the name of mouse pointers, and normally we can also call it cursors. Its location helps us work through it. The special thing is that this pointer or cursor changes its form according to its work. Apart from this, you can also use the pointer of your choice.
Normally the pointer or cursor on the computer screen is made in the shape of an arrow, but it has an angle, due to which it appears oblique. This is because earlier there were low-resolution screens, so it was visible due to the slant. Today, their shape and size vary according to the operating system. Below, you can see different interfaces of the pointer according to their functions.
How to Operate A Mouse: What Are Its Basic Functions?
Friends, today, when we use a computer, one of our hands always holds the device. Understand that this is our hand that helps in completing all the tasks inside the computer. Let us know what its common functions are.
- It is used to move the cursor or pointer anywhere on the entire screen of the computer. If you touch it with your hand and move it even a little, you will be able to see the pointer moving on the computer screen.
- To select the files and folders present on the computer screen, we move the pointer on them and click on them.
- Using this, you can open or close any software, file, or folder.
- Drag and drop files from one location to another without copy-pasting by clicking on them.
- We can easily scroll down to read a long document.
- Without opening any file or document, we get information about it as soon as we point to it.
- Many tasks can be completed on any object through its right-click. Like Open, Copy, Paste, Cut, Delete, Rename, Properties, etc.
Mouse Design – Parts Of Mouse
There are many types of these, and each design may be different, and the parts used in it may also be different. Here I am telling you about the design of a general mouse, which is found in most of the models.
Buttons
Almost every mouse used today has at least 3 buttons. One is the left button, and the other is the right button. Using this, we can do all the work on any file. The third is the button next to the wheel, which is used for smooth scrolling.
Mouse Wheel
Today’s desktop mouse has a wheel attached to it, through which we can easily scroll up and down the page, that is, move up and down on the page.
Ball, LED, or Laser
In its different types, a ball or roller is used, which we normally know as a mechanical mouse. This type of laser, or LED, is known as an optical mouse. It is because of these rollers and LEDs that we get help in tracking the pointer.
Circuit Board
To input the information about the clicks made by the left and right buttons into the computer, there is a circuit board that is made using integrated circuits.
Cable or Wireless receiver
A wire is provided in it to connect to the computer. Most of today’s devices have a USB port for cable connectivity. And if you use a wireless device, then you will need a wireless port for this.
Types Of Mouse
There are many types of mice in the market and they are divided based on their look, interface, and connectivity. Optical mice are mostly used in desktop computers these days due to the presence of USB ports. Touchpads are used in this form on laptops. So let us know about its different types.
Corded
Corded: We use cable to connect to the computer. Power is supplied to the device through this cable only. That is why there is no need for external power. The accuracy level in this is very high. There is no problem in data transfer in this.
Cordless (Wireless )
Cordless: – Which does not use cable to connect to the computer. In this, instead of cable, infrared, Bluetooth or radio waves are used for connectivity. That’s why we also call it wireless. A USB receiver is used which is plugged into the USB port of the computer and it receives the signal from the wireless device and works.
Optical Mouse
They use a light source, which includes LED and light detector. Which detects surface-related movement through light. This is the standard form of the mechanical mouse used before it. There is very little need for maintenance in this.
Mechanical Mouse
This is an input device in which a metallic or rubber ball is used. When the ball inside moves in any direction, then the sensors installed inside it detect this movement and also move the pointer in the same direction on the computer screen.
Most of such mobiles are corded. Although these were used earlier, now the optical mouse has taken their place.
How Does A Mouse Work?
Friends, when someone sees it working for the first time, one wonders how it moves on the computer screen in the same way as it moves outside. That is why there is a desire in the mind to know what this technology is, due to which it is an expert in doing such work.
Let us also know this thing in detail.
Roller ball working method
After all, how does it work? When we move the roller over our pad, it starts rolling due to its weight and pushes the 2 plastic rollers installed against it which are connected to thin wheels.
Of which one wheel detects the movement up and down (Y-axis) and the other wheel detects side-to-side movement which can also be called (X-axis) movement. Now the question arises here how does it know the movement of your hand so accurately?
When you move it, it moves rollers which move one or both the wheels. When you move the mouse straight up, it moves the wheel of the Y-axis.
Similarly, when the right side is moved, the X-axis wheel moves. But when we move at any angle or obliquely, then both the wheels move. In this way, we can see the exact movement on the computer screen.
A special thing about this is that every wheel is made of a plastic spoon.
Its biggest problem is that it cannot be used on every type of surface. For this, a special pad is required on which the roller can move easily.
When this wheel rotates it breaks the light beam. Every time this wheel rotates, the beam breaks. So by counting the number of times the beam breaks, you can know how far you have moved the pointer.
A microchip is installed for measuring and counting and sends all the information to the computer through a cable. Based on the same information, the computer software moves the cursor on the screen.
Working process of Optical Mouse
It works completely differently from the roller ball. In this way, there is an LED installed in its lower part which emits a shining light that goes directly to the desk or pad below its surface. After this, what happens is that the light bounces back after hitting the desk, which goes to the photocell next to the LED inside it.
There is a lens installed in front of the photocell which magnifies the returning light so that it can detect hand movement better. As you move it, the pattern of reflected light keeps changing. The chip installed inside it detects in which direction we are moving it with our hand.
There are 2 LEDs installed in an optical. Light shines downwards from an LED which reaches the desk or pad. Due to which the cursor moves. The light emanating from other LEDs is at the back so that it can be known whether it is working or not.
How Wireless Mouse Works
There is nothing different about working wirelessly, it also works like others by detecting the movement of the hand. The only difference is that they do not use wire or cable to send all their data to the computer.
For this, it uses wireless connectivity. For this, Bluetooth is mostly used instead of a USB cable.
As you already know that USB cable carries not only data but also power so that it gets enough power to work. But Bluetooth does not have a cable, which is why a battery is used for power.
Due to having a battery, its weight is slightly more than the others. Apart from this, it is also important that the battery consumption in Bluetooth is high, so the battery needs to be changed continuously.
Its biggest disadvantage is that a separate battery has to be used in it. Especially due to the use of Bluetooth, the battery life is not much. Due to the use of battery, the weight also increases.
How Many Buttons Are There In A Mouse?
Well, generally,, you will see that nowadays there are 3 buttons in the mouse and there is a Scroll button. That means the scroll has a wheel and a button. Often we are accustomed to Left and Right Click.
- Left Button
- Right Button
- Scroll Wheel & Button
